Starring the mighty Nicolas Cage sci-fi samurai western, Prisoners of The Ghostland is set to have its UK premiere at FrightFest on 28 August 2021 before hitting UK cinemas, on Demand and Digital on 17 September 2021.
The film looks like another gonzo action role for Cage, who has been on something of a comeback over the last few years (Mandy, Color Out Of Space). Cage himself has said that the Sion Sono directed film is ‘the wildest movie I’ve ever made’
The synopsis:
In the treacherous frontier city of Samurai Town, a ruthless bank robber (Cage) is sprungfrom jail by wealthy warlord The Governor (Bill Moseley), whose adopted granddaughter Bernice (Sofia Boutella) has gone missing. The Governor offers the prisoner his freedom in exchange for retrieving the runaway. Strapped into a leather suit that will self-destruct within five days, the bandit sets off on a journey to find the young woman— and his own path to redemption.
