TRUE DETECTIVE Season 3 Continues To Shape Up; Stephen Dorff Joins The Cast

Stephen Dorff (remember him?) has been cast opposite Mahershala Ali and Carmen Ejogo in season three of Nic Pizzolatto’s True Detective.

The first season starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson drew raves from critics, but season two starring Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch and Rachel McAdams was met with a muted response (despite being rather brilliant). Dorff has a strong screen presence and I think he has what it takes to chew on Pizzolatto’s hard-boiled dialogue.

Here’s the dope from Deadline on the next series:

Season 3 will tell the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods. Ali will play the lead role of Wayne Hays, a state police detective from northwest Arkansas.

Dorff will play Roland West, an Arkansas State Investigator who, along with his partner, has his life and career influenced over three decades by a baffling crime.

Nic Pizzolatto once again writes (although he co-wrote one episode with David Milch) and Jeremy Saulnier will direct the bulk of the episodes, but Pizzolatto will also make his directing debut on the show.

This one is heating up. Keep reading Movies In Focus for more on True Detective Season 3.
