Is Alejandro González Iñárritu’s THE REVENANT With Leonardo DiCaprio & Tom Hardy The Film Of Year?

THE REVENANT

Alejandro González Iñárritu blew minds last year with Birdman and he’s about to do it again with The Revenant. This revenge tale stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Will Poulter, Lukas Haas, Domhnall Gleeson and I’m sure it’s going to lead the awards conversation over the coming months.

Iñárritu is a fearless filmmaker who plays by his own rules and he has taken his experimentations to the next level with The Revenant. Cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki shot the film using natural light and that gives a gritty, earthy tone. It also meant that shooting over-ran by months due to the limitations of daylight. There’s a realism here that you can’t fake.

Say want you want about Leonardo DiCaprio but that man has constantly pushed himself to make interesting projects with top tier filmmakers. This looks like it could be the film of the year.

Inspired by true events, THE REVENANT is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption. THE REVENANT is directed and co-written by renowned filmmaker, Academy Award-winner Alejandro González Iñárritu (Birdman, Babel).
