Trailer For TV’s LETHAL WEAPON: High Expectations And None Of The Spark

I can’t be objective about this new trailer for the Lethal Weapon TV series. Richard Donner’s four films are so ingrained into my cinematic psyche that I just want to see Mel Gibson and Danny Glover do their buddy thing as Riggs and Murtaugh in a fifth movie .

This has all the Lethal Weapon tropes like automotive mayhem, dinner table banter, bickering and explosions – but it has none of the spark that made the four films so successful. This might not look too bad if it was just a generic cop show, but calling it Lethal Weapon raises expectations. And McG is no Dick Donner.
