Tom Cruise And Jack Nicholson May Reunite for EL PRESIDENTE; Can You Handle It?

el-presidente

The last time we heard about El Presidente, it was set to star Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr. Downey is now out (although I feel that there may have been crossed wires, and that he and Cruise were ever involved at the same time) and Cruise has now set his sights on getting Jack Nicholson to co-star.

Here’s the dope from THR:

“Presidente is about a straight-arrow Secret Service agent who is assigned to protect America’s worst former president, an alcoholic and womanizing sleazebag who was elevated from VP when the president died. When a threat is made on his life, the duo must go on the run.”

Doug Liman is directing the project, hot off calling the shots on Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow (formally All You Need Is Kill), replacing Jay Roach. While Cruise previously worked with Nicholson on Rob Reiner’s 1992 drama, A Few Good Men. It’s like one big Cruise reunion.

Nicholson hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2010’s How Do You Know (it beefed it at the box office) and there were recently rumours that he was retiring from acting. However, Cruise and Liman have met with the iconic star to persuade him to take part in the movie. He hasn’t agreed to star, but he has agreed to read the script.

I’d be up for seeing Tom Cruise and Jack in a political action comedy.
