Based on Frank Herbert’s complex 1965 sci-fi novel, the plan is for this to be the first movie of a two part set. It’s a big gamble for Warner Bros and the Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 director, and time will tell if it works or if this goes the way of David Lynch’s muddled 1984 version.
Here’s the IMDB synopsis:
Feature adaptation of Frank Herbert’s science fiction novel, about the son of a noble family entrusted with the protection of the most valuable asset and most vital element in the galaxy.
Dune, which co-stars Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem is still scheduled to open on 18 December 2020.
