Paramount Pictures Supports Darren Aronofsky After The Failure Of MOTHER!

Despite some solid reviews, Darren Aronofsky‘s mother! grossed a poor $7.5 million from 2,368 locations in the US, but even more damning was the F grade Cinemascore – which shows the Jennifer Lawrence starrer isn’t resonating with audiences. And that’s putting it mildly.

It’s good to see that Paramount Pictures isn’t going to throw Aronofsky under the bus, in fact the studio is supporting the director and his vision. Paramount’s worldwide president of marketing and distribution Megan Collegian released a statement defending the film against the poor box office and negative audience reaction:

“This movie is very audacious and brave. You are talking about a director at the top of his game, and an actress at the top her game. They made a movie that was intended to be bold. Everyone wants original filmmaking, and everyone celebrates Netflix when they tell a story no one else wants to tell. This is our version. We don’t want all movies to be safe. And it’s okay if some people don’t like it.”
