Notebook Reviews: RUSHMORE
Wes Anderson – 1998
It has the mighty Bill Murray in it, so of course it’s going to be good – but Wes Anderson‘s Rushmore is a fantastic off-beat comedy. It’s anchored by Murray, but Jason Schwartzman is also excellent as the precocious teen.
Co-written by Anderson and co-star Owen Wilson, Rushmore has under-lying dark hints of J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher In The Rye. The film’s script sparkles, the direction is beautifully composed and the soundtrack is great. Rushmore is a fine gem of a film.
