Ron Howard – 1999

The always reliable Ron Howard delivers this first-rate satire, which is dressed-up as a romantic comedy in ED TV.

Matthew McConaughey is excellent as the laidback everyday guy who gets his life turned into TV show. It also features a cracking supporting cast (Jenna Elfman, Woody Harrelson, Ellen DeGeneres, Martin Landau, Rob Reiner, Elizabeth Hurley and Dennis Hopper).

Is it similar to The Truman Show? Yeah, kinda, but this holds its own with some fine moments. This sadly underperformed at the box office and The Truman Show stole its thunder, but this was the movie that saw Reality TV coming. Great stuff.
