Notebook Reviews: AFTER HOURS
Martin Scorcese – 1985
After Hours is an energetic black comedy from Martin Scorsese – it’s a real change of pace for the director. For the first hour, this is a hugely enjoyable piece, but after that, it begins to lose momentum (it becomes too cartoonish).
Griffin Dunne is excellent in the lead role, but his character lacks real sympathy. The movie has its moments and there’s a dark and sadistic streaking running through it.
It could have been better, but After Hours is a fun ride all the same.
