Not Sold On Matthew Vaughn’s KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE

Layer Cake, Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class have given Matthew Vaughn a free pass for life from Movies In Focus. The first official marketing materials from the Colin Firth top-lined Kingsman: The Secret Service (formally simply The Secret Service) have landed – and I’m not sold on it. It looks too kid focused. I feel I’ve seen all this before – but I want to be wrong. However, I have a feeling that I’m not.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass) and starring Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), Samuel L. Jackson (Captain America: The First Avenger), Taron Egerton (The Smoke, Lewis) and Michael Caine (The Dark Knight Rises).

Based upon the acclaimed comic book and directed by Matthew Vaughn, KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.

Screenplay by Jane Goldman & Matthew Vaughn, based upon the comic book by Mark Millar & Dave Gibbons and produced by Matthew Vaughn, David Reid, Adam Bohling.
