No EXPENDABLES 4 For Sly; Stallone Leaves Franchise Over Creative Disputes
It looks like Sylvester Stallone has jumped-ship from The Expendables franchise. The star has bailed on The Expendables 4 due to creative disputes with the film’s producer Avi Lerner. According to Deadline, Stallone and Lerner ‘could not find common ground on a new director, on the script and on certain qualitative elements of the film. That went right down to the selection of the CGI house to handle visual effects.”
Stallone has always been the creative force behind the movies, having directed the first film and had a hand in writing each instalment. He was set to score over $20 million for his work on the movie – a career best payday.
Lerner had this to say about the fall-out:
”We’ve got disagreements with Sly, but we’ve had them for over a year and a half. Right now, each one has an opinion. We agreed on 95% of things, but there are certain things in production we don’t agree on. I don’t think it’s over, but write whatever you want. In my opinion, it’s not dead.”
Movies In Focus hopes this dispute falls by the wayside. I enjoy the Expendables movies and I’d like to see the gang get back together for one final battle.
