Marvel Studios Celebrates The Movies – But It’s Really Celebrating The Death Of Cinema
This trailer montage is titled Marvel Studios Celebrates The Movies – but it’s just promoting the studios upcoming slate which includes the long delayed Black Widow, Chloe Zhao’s Eternals and Shang Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings and more. It’s all promo which will be adored by the Marvel fans but man, is it depressing.
Watching this 3 minute video made me realise how these films have such a bland visual style. They all look the same – like expensive television. Considering that some of these will now be debuting Disney+ means that it probably, technically is. It’s just more CGI dross, boring action and noise.
Remember when action movies had some depth, when there was more to them than simply explosions and special effects. Films like Die Hard, The Fugitive and Ransom entertained, but they also had dramatic weight and felt like they belonged in the real world. Now it feels like soulless CGI and endless destruction.
