Kurt Russell and Sacha Baron Cohen Quit DJANGO UNCHAINED
Kurt Russell has dropped out of director Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained – and he won’t be replaced. Meanwhile, Sacha Baron Cohen has also left the project due to his press duties for The Dictator-the search is on for his replacement.
No reason has been given for Russell quitting the role of Ace Woody, but according to AICN it wasn’t “dramatic departure” and Tarantino simply re-jigged the script so that Walton Goggins’ character would absorb his part.
Ironically, Russell replaced his 3000 Miles To Graceland co-star (and fellow Wyatt Earp) Kevin Costner in Django, when he withdrew from the film before shooting commenced. It’s a shame that Russell had to quit the movie-he worked well with Tarantino in Death Proof – in fact, he was the best thing in it. He’s also been keeping a very low-profile in recent times, even turning down a role in The Expendables.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who would like to see Russell reteam with John Carpenter. Get on it.
