Jason Reitman Directing New GHOSTBUSTERS Movie; Teaser Trailer Is Already Here

The Ghostbusters are back. Again.

News has hit that Jason (son of Ivan) Reitman will direct and co-write a new Ghostbusters movie which is due to shoot in the summer of 2019 for a 2020 release.

Pitched as ‘a passing of the torch’, the film is set to be a continuation of Ivan Reitman’s pics starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson. Apparently Reitman is screen-testing teenagers for four mystery roles and developing the film under the name ‘Rust City’.

While the news is unexpected, it’s not surprising. When Sony released the all-female franchise reboot in 2016, the plan was to kick-start a whole slew of movies and spin-offs. Those plans were shelved after lukewarm box office and now it looks like they’re going down the ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ route.

At this stage not much is known, but that won’t stop people guessing if the original (‘real’) Ghostbusters will be making an appearance.

Oh – and there’s also a new teaser (via EW)…
