Is The First Official Trailer For FANTASTIC FOUR Fantastic?
The Fantastic Four haven’t had much luck on a cinematic level. The quartet first made it to the screen in a 1994 film from Roger Corman that was only made as a sneaky way of retaining the rights to the characters (it was never released). 20th Century Fox launched a big budget franchise a decade ago to little critical (and modest commercial) success that died after just two entries. It’s now time for the obligatory reboot with Chronicle director Josh Trank at the helm.
The intention is to go darker and grittier than that last couple of movies and it looks like they’ve succeeded (that shouldn’t have been too difficult). This trailer is the first glimpse of this reboot – odd considering that it hits screens in August.
Here’s the official synopsis:
‘Fantastic Four is a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.’
Fantastic Four opens on 6 August 2015
