In 2018 We’ll Get A STAR WARS Anthology Movie About A Young HAN SOLO
A young Han Solo movie – that’s what we’re getting on May 25 2018. Whoever gets cast as the character has big boots to fill – taking on the role that made Harrison Ford a star won’t be easy. The good news in all this is that Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon will write the script for the film. Kasdan knows Star Wars, having written co-written The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, so if anyone can pull it off, it’s him.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller will direct this Star Wars Anthology film, which ‘focuses on how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.’ The pair, who recently helmed The Lego Movie and the Jump Street movies had this to say:
“This is the first film we’ve worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with. We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us. This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you’re late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you’ve loved since before you can remember having dreams at all.”
It’s important Lucasfilm and Disney get this movie right – Han Solo is one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars universe. If they get it wrong….they’re in trouble.
Let the casting begin – but I’m for Anthony Ingruber – who played a young Harrison Ford in The Age Of Adeline. Check out the below video to see my thinking. While we’re at it – cast him as Indiana Jones too.
