The Fall is one of the best television series ever been produced in the UK (read a review The Fall Series 2) and it’s great seeing it return for a third (and likely final series). Both Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan will be back, reprising their roles of Stella Gibson and Paul Spector in the Belfast-set BBC detective drama.
Creator Allan Cubitt said:
“The cliff-hanger ending of season two was conceived in the hope of further exploring the characters and the themes that are at the heart of The Fall. We’re grateful to be given this opportunity by the BBC.”
I imagine that scheduling will be an issue here, as Anderson may be shooting a new series of The X-Files along with her duties on Hannibal, while Dornan must film the next two instalments of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy as well as WWII drama Anthropoid (which goes before cameras this summer)
This is good news – but I imagine The Fall Series 3 won’t be arriving as soon as many hope.
