Darth Vader Actor David Prowse Dies Aged 85

David Prowse, the former bodybuilder who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, has died at the age of 85. The English-born Prowse embodied the physical presence of Vader and the voice was provided by James Earl Jones. 

Prowse also played Green Cross Code Man in UK public service adverts and appeared in film such as 1967’s Casino Royale, Stanley Kubrick’s Clockwork Orange and the Hammer films Horror Of Frankenstein and Frankenstein And the Monster From Hell.

David Prowse originally auditioned for the roles of Darth Vader and Chewbacca in 1977’s Star Wars but ended up playing the iconic Sith Lord in George Lucas’ space saga.
