Caution To The Wind: Cage & Rourke In MARBLE CITY
Nicolas Cage keeps knocking out movie after movie, after movie. Pretty soon audiences get sick and tired of paying cash to see the same person. It’s one of the reasons why television stars find it difficult to make the transition to the big screen-“why should I pay to see you, when you’re free in my living room”. With movie actors, people think, “well, I’ve seen five of your movies this year, I might was well wait for the DVD”.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the Cage’s work ethic, but soon those performances start to look a little less special. Having said that-I’m somewhat excited about Marble City, a movie which will team the Cage with the always value for money Mickey Rourke – even if the movie does sound generic, and the filmmakers are talking a truckload of rubbish.
According to Coming Soon: “Marble City takes us on a journey of a newly released prisoner who seeks revenge on those that put him inside. It is the story of a man who finds his inner peace through vengeance.”
Of the film, Director Ryuhei Kitamura said: “This is ‘Kill Bill’ meets ‘Drive.’ The movie is a story of one man’s journey of vengeance on a road filled with rage, bullets and ultra-violence. He needs to go through the darkest places to reach the light in a classic story of revenge, redemption and salvation. I’m fully loaded with an incredible dream cast, great script and complete backing from my producers. Together we’ll take action noir to the next level!”
While producer Jeremy Wall said, “the film is a high action and close combat fighting picture. We will bring a dynamic flair to the screen with this director and story. We are delighted to be attracting the highest caliber of actor in the business to work with us in this venture, namely Oscar winning actor Nicolas Cage and Oscar winning actor Mickey Rourke – let the battle begin.”

Two things:
1. Rourke has never won an Oscar.
2. Does the “young make demographic” really want to see two middle-aged men kick the crap out of each other?
This kind of talk turns me off the movie.
