Behind The Scenes: Michael Douglas & Kathleen Turner On The Set Of ROMANCING THE STONE

Romancing the Stone is a wonderful adventure/romantic comedy from director Robert Zemeckis. The 1984 film sees romantic novelist Joan Wilder (Kathleen Turner) travelling to South America in search of her missing sister. Along the way she teams up with Michael Douglas‘ roguish adventurer, Jack T. Colton in an attempt to uncover a priceless gemstone.

Hugely entertaining in an Indiana Jones type way, Romancing The Stone marked Robert Zemeckis’ first box office hit and he would go on to make Back To The Future his next feature. The film was also the first teaming of Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito. The trio went on to make the sequel to Romancing The StoneThe Jewel Of The Nile – the following year and The War Of The Roses in 1989. Douglas would also work with Turner and DeVito on the Netflix show, The Kominsky Method

Released in 1984, Romancing The Stone grossed $76.5 million at the US box office and over $115 million worldwide.
