Behind The Scenes: Bill Murray & Richard Donner On The Set Of SCROOGED

The late, great Richard Donner’s 1988 comedy, Scrooged is a flawless interpretation of Charles Dickens’ immortal classic, A Christmas Carol.

The mighty Bill Murray has never been better as the self-obsessed and Christmas-hating TV executive, Frank Cross. Cross is visited by three ghosts who teach him lessons of the past, present and future on Christmas Eve.

Murray is fantastic in the film, but everyone in the cast of Scrooged impresses  – Karen Allen, John Forsythe, Bobcat Goldthwait, Carol Kane, Robert Mitchum, Michael J. Pollard all deliver memorable performances in supporting roles.

Richard Donner is a director who knows how to master different genres and get gets the tone just right, ensuring the film has the right amount of humour, heart and snark to keep it entertaining. From the dark humour, to the excellent production design and wonderful Danny Elfman score, Scrooged is a perfect as a Christmas movie can get.

Budgeted at $32 million, Scrooged grossed $60.3 million at the US box office and more than $100 million worldwide following its released in 1988.
