Avengers: Infinity War is on track to score $247.1 million at the US box office over its first weekend – the second best opening of all time behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ $247.96 million – and the Marvel mash-up has the potential to top even that!

The Russo Brothers directed flick is also looking at a $500 million global launch. It’ll be interesting to see how much this ultimately banks and if it manages to surpass Black Panther‘s $685 million domestic gross – the highest domestic number for a Marvel/superhero pic and The Avengers‘ $1.5 global haul. It remains to seen how front-loaded this is, but there’s still a huge audience an appetite for these movies 10 years after Robert Downey Jr first slipped into his Iron Man duds.
