A Re-Jigging Of Ben Affleck’s Movie Schedule Leaves A Lot Of Room For THE BATMAN
Warner Bros has shifted the Gavin O’Connor Ben Affleck starrer The Accountant from its January 2016 release to October 7, 2016. That’s a good sign the studio feels there’s some heft to the movie which will now open smack-dab in the middle of awards season. That day would have seen the release of Affleck’s long gestating adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s Live By Night – which will now open in an unspecified date in 2017.
This leaves room for Affleck to work on The Batman, a film that he’s currently writing and planning to direct and star in. He shoots Justice League (Part 1) in the Spring of 2016, so the plan is to get things in motion so he can direct Live By Night and then segue into shooting The Batman once it wraps.
Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice recently screened for cast, crew and Warner Bros executives and it was such a success that it apparently received a standing ovation. The plan is now to have Affleck star in a trilogy of stand-alone Batman films. Just writing that gives me the tingles. All hail The Batfleck.
Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice opens in March 25, 2016, while Justice League hits on November 17, 2017.
