You really have to hand it to Nicolas Cage. The man selects material that nobody else would touch with a barge pole. That’s not an insult, that’s a simple fact. Mandy looked like it pushed Cage to his limits, but Between Worlds looks like he’s gone into even weirder territory (and taken his Con Air hair along with him).
The story follows Joe, (Cage), a down-on-his-luck truck driver haunted by the memory of his deceased wife and child. He meets Julie (Franka Potente), a spiritually gifted woman who enlists Joe in a desperate effort to find the lost soul of her comatose daughter, Billie (Penelope Mitchell). But the spirit of Joe’s dead wife Mary proves stronger, possessing the young woman’s body and determined to settle her unfinished business with the living.
Between Worlds opens later in 2018.
