Ewan McGregor was one of the best things about George Lucas’ Star Wars prequels. Recent rumours suggest that McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi might be returning to the Star Wars universe – and it would seem that the Scottish actor is open to this. He said the following at the Edinburgh Film Festival:
I’d be happy to do the story from episodes three where I finish up and Alec Guinness starts.”
He’s also interested in seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens and he’s impressed by what he’s seen so far:
”I’m excited as everyone else and am looking forward it seeing it. It’s not a fanatical thing. I’m really pleased I’m part of the legacy of it and happy to see it and I’ve seen the trailer and it looks like they’ve absolutely nailed it.”
However, he doesn’t appear to be thrilled at J.J Abram’s new addition to the lightsaber:
“I’m not sure about the hilt on the lightsaber. If you fight with a lightsaber properly you don’t need one.’’
It would be intersting to see Ewan McGregor do a few more Obi-Wan Kenobi adventures – and the concept is much more appealing that many of the other mooted spin-offs (Young Yoda – I’m looking at you!).
