There’s no official confirmation that Daniel Craig’s tenure as James Bond is up (although it’s rumoured Tom Hiddleston is circling the role), but Skyfall and Spectre director Sam Mendes has stated he won’t be directing any further Bond adventures.
Speaking at the Hay Festival, Mendes said:
“It was an incredible adventure, I loved every second of it. But I think it’s time for somebody else.”
“I’m a storyteller – and at the end of the day, I want to make stories with new characters.”
As for the selection process, Mendes said that the decision for who will be the next Bond is all down to one woman:
“It’s not a democracy. Barbara Broccoli decides who is going to be the next Bond, end of story.”
It’s worth noting that after Skyfall Sam Mendes also said he was done with Bond and we all know how that turned out.
When it comes to James Bond you should never say never.
