The Mel Gibson comeback is now an official thing. Hacksaw Ridge has nabbed 6 Oscar nominations and Gibson recently signed with a new agency (CAA). He has also lined-up two new acting projects.
Dragged Across Concrete will see Gibson share the screen with one of his Hacksaw Ridge stars, Vince Vaughn. It’ll be written and directed S. Craig Zahler, the man behind Kurt Russell western Bone Tomahawk.
According to THR:
The script centers on two policemen, one an old-timer (Gibson), the other his volatile younger partner (Vaughn), who find themselves suspended when a video of their strong-arm tactics become the media’s cause du jour. Low on cash and with no other options, these two embittered soldiers descend into the criminal underworld to gain their just due, but instead find far more than they wanted awaiting them in the shadows.
Sounds like a good one. Vaughn has just finished filming Zahler’s Brawl In Cell Block 99 with Don Johnson. Is Mahler really working with all my favourite actors?
Weirder news sees Gibson and John Lithgow attached to Daddy’s Home 2, the sequel to the Mark Wahlberg/Will Ferrell comedy. The film is set to hit screens in November and I get the feeling Gibson will play Marky Mark’s pops, while Lithgow will have spawned Ferrell. Comedy will ensue as the grumpy old men face-off. Never thought I’d be up for watching that!
