Oh Assassin’s Creed, how you tease me. I’m torn about this one. On one hand, Movies In Focus is a big fan of all things Michael Fassbender, while on the other I have a loathing for all things video game related. This is a serious First World problem
Justin Kurzel’s film appears to have good visuals (even if they are a little CGI-y) but I’m getting a strong Matrix vibe from this – and I’m not sure that’s a good thing. On the plus-side, Assassin’s Creed has a corking cast: Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson and Michael Kenneth Williams. However, that means nothing if the movie is rubbish.
Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organisation in the present day.
Assassin’s Creed opens in December 2016
